Smartylamps.co.uk are purveyors of interesting, retro-designer lampshades. Seeking to provide cool vintage lampshades at a reasonable price.  Formed in 2004, Smartylamps continue to work from their studio in Brighton, East Sussex developing lighting and other artistic, creative ideas and projects.

Smartylamps specialise in creating the range of lampshades inspired by Holger Strom’s IQLight system developed in the seventies. If you’ve seen these before on the web, the difference is that Smartylamps don’t send you a flatpack and expect you to make the lampshade yourself. We can make it for you!  We provide lampshades that are funky not flat and ready to light up your room when you open the parcel.

Unlike other retailers, Smarty Lamps offer a wider range of shapes in this very contemporary product, all pre-assembled, delivered in a box and ready to hang from the ceiling pendant. Flat packs are also available for those who’d rather economise and assemble lampshades themselves.

The ball or sphere shaped lampshade COSMO is the most popular and well known, but customers are now discovering the fantastic array of other designs: Huge lampshades of up to 90cm diameter – such as ELEKTRA or SPIRAL TUBES that can be made to any length. Most styles are available in several sizes.

Our customers and clients over the years have been relieved to find us; we get such a positive response upon discovery. And now by introducing free shipping of orders to customers in the UK, people are now ordering several shades at the same time.

As well as being an online shop, Smartylamps are open to trade enquiries from other retailers and can provide a bespoke lighting service for bars, restaurants, hotels, clubs, parties, events and festivals. Whether dining room or disco, kitchen or kitsch shop we have seen the light ! We have previously been commissioned to provide lighting for a diverse range of clients, from Yoga Centres to Indian restaurants, Children’s Homes and nurseries, Night clubs and bar chains such as Mackenzies Bars. Smartylamps have been placed in adverts and sought after by interior designers. They’ve been stage lighting at concerts, regularly installed as décor in backstage bars at festivals and used as part of promotional branding at events such as The Geneva Motor Show.
